Mallouh the
Deputy Secretary-General of the PFLP vests the
campaign. (27/8/2007)
Abed al-Raheem Mallouh
the PLO executive committee member and the Deputy Secretary-General
of the PFLP visited the campaign to Free Barghouti. The visit came in
response to an invitation by the campaign to discuss with him ways to
develop the work of the campaign and its activities.
Mallouh expressed his
views on the issue of Palestinian prisoners to members of the campaign
secretariat, activists and volunteers. He explained that there was
negligence over previous years either by the Palestinian Authority or the
PLO as happened in the Oslo agreement, which left the issue to the Israeli
“goodwill".
Elsewhere, Malluh
pointed out that he fully agreed with the analyses of Marwan Barghouti of
the Palestinian situation as an expression of three crises: the first is
the crisis of the Fatah movement, indicating that Barghouti believes that
the rigidity of the movement due to not holding the Sixth General
Conference and accommodate changes and new requirements within the movement.
Barghouti believes that as a result of the large handicapped access barriers
the movement should do a deep reform and injecting new blood to the
movement, development and formulation of proper mechanisms for access to
the Sixth General Conference of the movement as soon as possible.
The second crisis is
the internal crisis Malluh explained, he said that the prisoners document
were designed to prevent the deterioration, but after it happened there is
nothing left to talk about, warning that the internal Palestinian division
will not find a way out over several months, as some believe, there are real
risks surrounding the Palestinian national project and the Palestinian
political entity.
Malluh added "But it is
the duty of everyone to work hard in order to spare our people the scourge
of the division as much as possible, pointing out that there are many issues
such as education, health, justice could continue to work it doesn’t mean
that we are accepting the situation of existing division."
The third crisis, said
Malluh that to achieve the Palestinian national project and the elimination
of the occupation has been and remains the main goal of the Palestinian
struggle, and it was suggested that a lasting political forum at the
headquarters of the popular campaign entitled "problems and solutions" to be
inclusive of all titles and supporter of the role of the prisoners movement.
His audience supported
the idea of establishing a lasting political forum aims to diagnose problems
and the search for solutions. Speakers stressed that the presence of the
leading symbol like Abdul Rahim Malluh who enjoys considerable wisdom, poise
and experience will greatly contribute to developing the performance of the
campaign and to develop appropriate mechanisms to serve the cause of
Palestinian prisoners as part of the general Palestinian cause.
