In the latest poll conducted in Palestine; Marwan Barghouti is the most popular candidate for presidency.

 

An opinion poll conducted by the Centre for the Arab world for research and development on a random sample of 3200 people in period between 16-18 January, 2008 on the Palestinian situation in general and the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the prospects for peace. The poll also dealt with the issue of poll early elections.

 

The poll indicated that Marwan Barghouti ranks first in the list of popular political figures for the Palestinians; the results for the valuation of the Palestinian people regarding the most trustworthy came as follows:

 

 

 

The presidential race in the scenario of a bilateral competition, the Centre said: the most realistic scenario for the Palestinian presidential elections, requires a two candidates for the presidency, one representing the Palestine Liberation Organization, while the other Islamic movements. The poll shows a high percentage of support in the Islamic candidate and declined to endorse a candidate representing the Palestine Liberation Organization. The poll added: however, still poll results show that none of Marwan al-Barghuthi, or Mahmoud Abbas, or Salam Fayyad, or Mustafa Barghouthi unable to win elections in the face of Ismail Haniya "Islamic candidate who has the most support." And Marwan Barghouthi is the most popular candidate among the candidates of Fatah and Hamas, while less popular candidates of the two movements is Mahmoud Zahar.
