Marwan al-Barghouti, the most popular personal
The Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research conducted a new
opinion poll in the period between 23, January and 3, of February, 2008. The
poll has been conducting interviews face-to-face with a random sample of
adults numbering 3430 people, including 2198 in the West Bank and 1232 in
Gaza Strip, covering 245 residential sites, the ratio of error of 2%.
According to the poll on the question of presidential election the results
show:
The popularity of Mahmud Abbas stands at 51%
and Ismail Haniyeh at 43%. In the Gaza Strip, Abbas’s popularity stands at
50% and Haniyeh’s at 46%. If the competition is between Marwan Barghouti and
Ismail Haniyeh, the former receives the support of 60% and the latter 35%.
In the Gaza Strip, Barghouti receives 56% and Haniyeh 42%. In December 2007,
Abbas’s popularity stood at 56% and Haniyeh’s at 37%.
